I think its very important to observe that one of the main researchers is 
quoted as:

"Blessed said he's concerned that some patients may want to have C-
sections because of this study. He said it's important to remember that these 
findings were "clinically insignificant."  C-sections, on the other hand, carry 
known risks because it's a major surgery. "While the risk of complications from 
C-sections have greatly diminished, there are risks. Some patients do have 
complications," Blessed said."

This quote is so significant- and the one that will surely be omitted from most 
news reports of this study.  It certainly wasn't mentioned on my local news at 
5pm's "Health" report that mentioned the study and its "clinically insignificant" 
findings.  Of course, the Local News Health report did not mention that women 
are 3 times more likely to die from a cesarean delivery vs. a vaginal one.

Instead I saw a 2 minute "spot" with lovely videos of cuddly newborns and the 
study's "vaginal birth leads to 26% more likely brain bleeds" findings.  My chin 
hit the floor.  It was announced that vaginal birth=brain bleeds with such 
finality.  When I looked it up and actually saw the sample size was 88 babies.  
88 babies!!!  What the!!!

As perinatal professionals, hopefully we can all atleast remind colleagues and 
mothers of the sample size and the researchers own words about "clincal 
insignificance."
