Dear Lactnet's;
Thank you so much for your response to my post regarding the Korean mom
and how difficult it was to work with her. I'll be following up with her
next week by phone. I have been off work the last three days.
It was wonderful to read all the support out there for what we do. My moms
are important to me. I realize that there are some that no matter how hard
you try they just don't get it. And some of them I know they can't wait
for me to leave so they can open the bottle of formula.
There are also those moms that move mountains practically to be able to
continue to breastfeed.
I will try to move mountains for the mom that wants to breastfeed. I will
do anything in my power to help her be successful. If anything I want to
empower her that she is able to do so. Her success is my satisfaction.
I have a question regarding nipple shields. I monitor the baby's weight
and growth and for some it seems 3 to 8 wks before the baby will wean from
it. I also have some mom's because of such short inverted nipples these
kids just can't latch or maintain a seal without using it. Is there a
steadfast rule in how long they should use it? I don't use them unless
there is no other way for this kid to latch. I have had some mom's say at
least they can breastfeed by using it.
Thanks again for your support.
