Katherine writes, "I have recently heard from some colleagues that the use
of tincture of goat's rue makes a significant difference in milk production for
those women who struggle with low milk supply due to lack of breast tissue.
I would like to provide information to our health care providers if in fact,
others are seeing this in practice. "
Kellymom.com has herbal information and a bit on goat's rue
(http://www.kellymom.com/herbal/milksupply/herbal-rem_f.html ) as does Katherine Cox's,
motherlove.com and Mechell Turner's site, birthandbreastfeeding.com (all site owners
are IBCLC's). (I have no commericial interest in any of these sites, just use
them and refer moms to them).
Sheila Humphrey's "Nursing Mother's Herbal" also has info on the use of
goat's rue as a galactagogue. I have had some moms with PCOS or other reasons for
insufficient gladular tissue who used goat's rue and did find it helpful in
regard to supply, especially when used in combination with domperidone or
fenugreek and blessed thistle. I've seen actual breast enlargement especially to
those areas that had scant tissue, inner quadrant and upper as well.
