Oh my goodness Diane, your post made me cry! Indeed, I agree with every
word -- I could find all the technical breastfeeding information I needed on
the internet, but La Leche League was the one place every month where I felt
normal and could ask the *real* questions I had about motherhood. I was
supported in all of my choices, even as I worked to navigate the stormy
waters of combining work away from home with breastfeeding, and, later,
tandem nursing.
When I get helping calls from mothers who seem only interested in getting
their answer from me (lest they catch any "fanaticism" from me), I stress to
them how wonderful the mother-to-mother support at meetings really is for a
new mother. I manage to convince maybe half to start coming tomeetings, but
they are all so glad they did.
