This a quote I received from an NP group, written by Mary Beck..
"There is a new threat on the practice horizon for any provider of health care services in the United States who is not a physician. Facing increased scope-of-practice legislation, in 31 states involving 22 different groups of allied health professionals in 2006 alone, The American Medical Association (AMA) and other physician groups have formed "Scope of Practice Partnership(SOPP)."

Personally, I consider LCs to be allied health care providers.
I think the SoP promulgated by IBLCE is a direct result of this partnership in action.
