"I have moms call all the time to see if they can breastfeed with different
activities. Today I was asked if a mom can breastfeed when she goes to the
dentist for a cleaning. I was also asked if you  can breastfeed and get hair
colored."
I think this reflects a common perception (often re-inforced by under
educated medical professionals) that breastfeeding is unreliable, easily
contaminated (especially by a mother who wants to do anything that she might
enjoy) and fragile. I look forward to the day when we understand that
women's leaky, unpredictable, dynamic bodies are powerful assets rather than
limitations.
