I had a mom who contacted me because her Pedi ( who is very breastfeeding
friendly) told her that if she would drink Gaterade Sports Drink instead of
water that she would have an increased milk production.
This mom has followed Newman's protocol for relactation to feed her baby
that was delivered by a gestational carrier. She is currently on domperidone,
fenugreek, and Goats Rue. She is able to express 1 oz or more sometimes, and
is feeding the 8 day old newborn with a starter SNS.
She has tried to drink the Gaterade, but the taste is so disagreeable to her it
makes her feel sick.
I found One reference in the Archives about using sports drink for dehydration,
but this is a well mom with normal hydration levels.
Anyone ever heard of this idea before?
Thanks,
