Most pharmacies don't compound medications. The way most of my pts
purchase it, is at the local store. Just mix equal amounts of ingredients
together....like a dime size squirt of each into a clean hand or cup mix well and
apply sparingly to sore areas. Our OB's are fine with pts husbands going out
and buying the ingredients and mixing in pts room. Sometimes, I'll ask for an
order like "pt may use nipple cream as needed".
1)polysporin (safer than neosporin) ointment preferred
2)hydrocortisone 10 or 1% (again oint preferred) just soaks in faster
3)clotrimozole or miconazole either of these. hard to find in oint form. cream
is fine.
mix equal parts and apply. Usually 3-5 days does the trick. 3 -4 times / day
