I hope it's okay to say this here... if not, please correct me...
I'm happy that ACOG has issued such a statement. However... it seems a
little bit contradictory to me because ACOG so readily promotes and supports
the use of unnecessary interventions in birth... interventions which often
sabotage the early breastfeeding experience. They say things like "...ACOG
recommends that women exclusively breastfeed for at least the first six
months after giving birth.", but they put into place interventions that
often necessitate infants being separated from their mothers, and that often
leads to formula supplementation or in some cases, abandonment of
breastfeeding altogether.
