"Are there any good studies showing that this medication increases milk supply
safely for mothers and babies?"
Hale 2006 cites a study by da Silva et al, 2001, and lists pretty dramatic results. Effect of domperidone on milk production in mothers of premature newborns: a randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. CMAJ 2001; 164(1): 17-21. Under "pediatric concerns," Hale says "None reported. Considered the ideal galactagogue." I need to get that study and start passing it around!
