The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has received inquiries
about infections with antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (including
methicillin-resistant S. aureus [MRSA]) among persons who have no apparent
contact with the healthcare system. This fact sheet addresses some of the
