Hi, All: I am still in shock after reviewing a little brochure that
Johnson&Johnson (a company that makes all kinds of self-care products
ranging from shampoos and body washes to nursing pads and diaper rash
cremes) makes available for free for new parents. There is not one mention,
NOT ONE!, of formula or even bottle-feeding in the brochure. It briefly
covers: getting the nursery ready, outfitting your baby, what happens after
your baby is born (briefly describes routine after-birth care the baby receives
in the hospital, including the obligatory blood tests), bringing baby home (very
basic, but correct, brief information on breastfeeding), and then comes the
product pushing. The section on "be prepared, be informed", gives
recommendations as to what should be in the parents' medicine chest and
baby "toiletries". The back page contains several coupons for a variety of
baby "necessities" like baby lotion, diaper rash creme, Mylicon, Tylenol.
In the USA, Johnson&Johnson is a major manufacturer of such products. How
refreshing to see that this company apparently feels breast is not only the
NORM, but the ONLY way to feed your baby.
I will be sending our area Johnson&Johnson rep a complimentary e-mail!
