I had already sent your mark photo to the webmaster of the site David
mentions below (no response yet), but he is not a 'marks man'...so,
don't know if he can help any.  
I also sent it off to David Whitten who maintains a site on up to date
info on marks:

Awaiting his reply also.  [BTW, he also knows a lot about glass
insulators]

Our Japanese employee says it doesn't look like any character(s) he
knows, but... the divided box portion (lower part) does happen to be the
symbol for rice paddy/field.

Please do let us know, if you solve the mystery.  :o)
