People's reaction to the new document may be tempered by how much they
perceive it affects them. If they are not working, or working in a field
loosely or unrelated to lactation, then these changes may have limited
relevance. WHY people choose not to, or can not work and use their
credential is I believe an important area for our professional bodies to
consider.
I sent similar feedback after taking the recent questionnaire. I am working
in a field only remotely related to lactation...therefore the question
asking me how important the skills of positioning and attachment are to me
was meaningless-NOT IMPORTANT was the only answer I could honestly
give...what sort of an LC does that make me sound like? Not a very good one!
My distantly-related field of work made my answers seem silly at best and
possibly unfairly affected any final results of the questionnaire.
Should I have not taken the questionnaire? Possibly...but by the time I
realised there were no questions allowing me to explain, it was over and
submitted!
I have appreciated reading everyone's thoughts in this forum on this
important matter.
Take care,
Meg Kingsley
