Hello Everyone,
I had a question presented to me today that I wasn't sure how to answer.
It seemed simple but I didn't want to answer without a better knowledge
base. She said that she avoided unpasturized foods during pregnancy and
wondered if she still should while lactating. The one she brought up was
apple cider.
Right now this time of year in Michigan we have an abundance of fresh
apple cider. Having visited an apple orchard once I had my concerns. All
the apples are crushed and processed right there. I don't remember the
particulars but at the time I thought worms in the apple and whatever else
attached was crushed and processed during the making of cider. Correct me
if I'm wrong. Has anyone an answer for this. I know that sushi is now ok
by using certain fish. I don't know if there are any other nonpasterized
foods out there.
Thanks again for your wisdom,
Terri Klein RN CLE CLC
