It is my strong opinion that wherever possible, moms should be using
organic herbs in a whole or cut and sifted form, such that they are
actually recognizable as themselves, rather than a mysterious powder in
a capsule. My favorite organic herb company sells an inexpensive
capsule filler, so that a person could grind the herbs or seeds in a
coffee grinder and put them into caps herself. Better yet, have a
visitor or friend do it, if we're talking about a mom who has a new
baby to take care of.
There have been enough anecdotal reports of "fenugreek" caps from
particular retail stores actually causing a milk supply to crash, that
I no longer mention caps as the first option.
