Haven't heard that info about getting mastitis from these - but I think the
easiest way to work around that is simply judicious wearing - you know - not
wearing them all the time. :-)

I'll acknowledge right now that I am now carrying this product so I do have
some financial interest in them - HOWEVER - I would never recommend that
moms wear them as their only nursing pad - I would say wear them when you
are going out and don't want to show the world you are wearing bra pads in
your bra - wear them for special occasions to help prevent leaking. Nothing
like soaking your formal gown - through the cloth bra pads.been there done
that! But, at home - wear the cloth/disposable pads - when you're going
out and don't want to leak all over and show the world you're wearing bra
pads - wear the LilyPadz.

Really, moderation is the key. The breast is designed to leak, to breathe,
etc. If it is always covered with a silicone pad it can't do that - thus I
could see it possible that a mom might develop mastitis. However, we also
need to look at what else may have contributed to the mastitis - Mom may
have developed mastitis for some other reasons.the LilyPadz wearing may have
been a coincidence.

The pads do need to be washed daily, after use, to keep them clean. They
need to be treated appropriately - not left out to dry with milk on them -
if they get milk on them between feeds - wash them off.that may have
accounted for the sour smell. It may be that that particular clients body
does not appreciate silicone. I would not recommend that moms sleep all
night with them on.nor wear them all day. The body needs to breathe.

Just my thoughts - I am new to this product but know that the moms in my
area LOVE them.
