I just want to say thank you for this question. I have been wondering it for
quite some time. I did not even want to ask...thinking if this were true,
surely we would know? RIght? No? There are young girls on bc for acne. My
cousin started taking bc pills at 13---definitely not for pregnancy prevention,
she was on them for acne. Another young girl, 15, on bc pills for painful
menstrual cramps. So, we are talking young girls on the pill in their early
teens and likely on them for more than 10 years. Since so many women today
are delaying childbearing until well into their 30s, and that may mean being on
hormonal birth control for more than 15 years.....is there a possible link?
I can't imagine I should be seeing so many women with so little milk.. I am
always looking for a reason or at least a theory of possibility.....
Anyway, just wanted to say I have been wondering this too and if there is
any research, I would love to know about it. And, if there is not...maybe some
great mind would take it on...
Best,
Pam MazzellaDiBosco, IBCLC, RLC
