The lead in says "First Aid for the nursing mother"
This is an entirely breastfeeding friendly, mother run site.
This new product is not a replacement for the breast. I just
spent a long time talking to the exclusively breastfeeding
inventor mom. This product was created due to her necessity.
Her 6 month old bit her out of a startle reflex when her door
bell rang and his teeth cut her aerola with a deep gash that
resulted in a lot of bleeding and repeat pain.
The protective membrane is a ventilated porous bandage over the
aerola to protect the skin while it heals from any type of trauma
and infection.
Then it is supposed to be discarded when the pain is manageable
and the Moms breast can take the pressure again. Her baby boy
looked up at her when his mouth went on to the plastic, but he
accepted it for getting his precious milk.
She did not want to quit due to pain from the bite. Her whole
goal is to keep a mom from quitting breastfeeding due to pain.
Her partner is a doctor who feels the same. If this keeps a mom
from quitting breastfeeding, I am for it. It is a solution to
a temporary and treatable problem, not a replacement.
