Carole,
I found a lot of interesting information there (I was redirected from
the address you listed below to another address) but could not find
staff qualifications. I typed it in to a search area and got
information on training staff, etc. but it did not give job
qualifications.
I can't understand why regulations at either state or federal level,
but particularly if it was state (by this, you mean our state made
this decision, right?) were not known for the months that they have
been telling me that I was going to have this position (area/regional
breastfeeding coordinator, covering 11 counties).
Then suddenly when this nutritionist lost some of her other job
duties, a regulation emerged from the woodwork saying that an RD or
RN had to supervise peer counselors? Seems unlikely to me. Or if it
IS a regulation, it's one that was written on the state level last
week! That's my guess. The state breastfeeding coordinator, who is an
RD and IBCLC has known that they were planning to put me in this
position for months now and she never said anything about any
requirement about it having to be an RN or RD. Very strange.
