Subject: [LACTNET] Uganda: 4000 Die Daily Due to Lack of Breastfeeding

Dear Daniela,

I suspect that 4000/day is an entire world death rate. If you multiply it by
365, you get 1.460.000. This number is close to the WHO data for the death
rate from not breastfeeding for entire world.
May be journalists just misinterpreted the words of the Health Minister:
""Everyday, as many as 4000 infants and young children die because they are
not breastfed. Why should this continue?" Asked Nduhura."

Sincerely yours,
Victoria Nesterova,
bf supporter, Kiev, Ukraine

Still looking at the death/birth rate. The WHO birth rate I had seems to =
be wrong too, but still 4000/day is more than are actually born. I'm =
trying to increase awareness within my group, so if anyone has accurate =
info of this kind, I'll appreciate it. E-mail me privately.

Thanks
