Hey there,
I'd be careful about any Polysporin recommendation. It's polymyin and
bacitracin and is therefore one of the most common sources of contact
allergy that exacerbates atopic dermatitis. The rate of sensitization is
greatly increased if it's applied to inflamed skin. Neosporin contains
neomycin as well, another potent cause of contact allergy. Bactroban
(mupirocin) almost never causes dermatitis and is a better choice (it's
one of the ingredients in APNO). Of course, that's a prescription, but it
is better for the mom and baby.
