Nina asks an excellent question and I have a suggestion for her. I have just
returned from The 2007 International Conference on the Theory and Practice
of Human Lactation Research and Breastfeeding Management this past week.
One of the keynote speakers was a women from Austrailia named Donna
Ramsey Geddes, PhD., who has done extensive work using ultrasound (she is
an ultrasonographer by profession) to study breast anatomy and and milk
ejection in the human lactating breast. She is a published author as well. I
found her talks to be extremely informative, not to mention fascinating as
well. I should think in all her studies, she could probably shed some light on
what differences there might be when comparing breastfeeding and bottle
feeding (by ultrasound).
Nina, if you want to contact me, I can give you any additional information I
have on how to contact Donna. As I said, she was a wonderful, informative
speaker and I cannot imagine that she might not have the information you
seek.
