since I went to high school in the dark ages when we took Latin, I find it
helpful to know that the term "ante" actually is a Latin word
meaning "before",and the word "post" means "after". In medical notes the
first letter of these two words is often substituted for the word itself
as a kind of shorthand, usually with a line over the letter indicating it
is shortened. The prefix "anti" refers to the opposite of whatever it is
affixed to. (such as anti-terrorist tactics, etc)
