Ohhh yes Karleen, I nearly fell off the lounge last night when I saw a
formula ad!!! on TV

And I was sitting sort of smug during Sarah Amin's talks at the lactation
college conference " isn't that bad over there!!!"

Subject: The anti has been upped!
In recent times there has been a real increase in the agressiveness of =
marketing of infant formula in Australia....we've had some new players =
enter the market and advertising their products in parents magazines and =
website, Drs magazines etc promising more sleep to those who use their =
products...we've got established players setting up "Mums clubs" and =
setting themselves up as providing support on infant feeding and =
development....there is a plethora of "educational materials" produced =
and distributed with information designed to discourage women from =
breastfeedung (some quite dangerous, like saying it's normal for =
breastfed babies to have 15 stools a day)....we've had toddler formula =
milk give aways and tastings in supermarkets but now we've hit a new low =
and have advertising of infant formula on television! I and many others =
are wondering when it is going to stop??? Perhaps we're heading down the =
road of the US in some ways. I must say that it's a bit scary!
