Hi, all -- I seem to remember that the suspicion about the FDA crack down on
domperidone might be related to industry pressure from the company that
makes and sells Reglan. Domperidone is made and marketed by a European
pharmaceutical company and Reglan is a US product, I believe. While I think
the outlawing of domperidone is the US is suspect, I don't think it has to
do with the fact that it potentially leads to a reduction in formula sales,
but that it cut into the market for Reglan.
For those who might not know, Reglan can also be used to increase milk
production, but many health and lactation professionals do not like to use
it because of apparent untoward side effects.
