Anyone have any experience with a BFAR mom whose surgery was 7 years ago who
is having extreme pain when breastfeeding and a lot of pain when pumping?
Baby is 12 days old and initially mom stopped breastfeeding cause of nipple
soreness and started pumping, though not enough, to keep up supply and bottle
feed to baby. She then called me and I spent a good bit of time getting baby
onto flat nipples, using nipple shield, sns/finger feeding, etc. He was able
to suck at the breast with shields and she seemed comfortable. Also, upped
her pumping appropriately. However, she is in extreme pain again and says she
cannot bear the thought of putting baby to breast. I am not sure that these
are "typical" sore nipples or if this could be related to the BFAR. She
also has PCOS. She describes the pain as feeling like her breasts are bruised,
as well as painful nipples. Any thoughts? Thanks, Ann
