At the following website you can find Katherine Dettwyler's letter for court
cases in support of extended breastfeeding,
http://www.kathydettwyler.org/detletter.htm
excerpt "It is quite feasible for divorced parents to work out shared
custody or visitation arrangements that allow the father to have ample time
with his child while not sacrificing the breastfeeding relationship the
child has with its mother. There is no reason why the child cannot have
close relationships with both parents, including spending substantial
amounts of time with both, without weaning having to take place before the
child is ready."
There is also a wealth of information at www.lalecheleague.org However, I
can't seem to access it on the web at the moment, so I can't give you a
direct webpage. Also, if you/the family contact your local LLL Leader,
there is a legal package that can be accessed by our Professional Liaison
department.
Hope this helps.
Love,
Luck &
Laughter,
Kimberly
