anyone knows this to be a rare but true reason for having to wean this
child, I'd love to hear from you and learn something from this case.

Hi Brenda,

Has this baby been diagnosed via colonoscopy or is it just that there is
continued blood in the stools? Is baby otherwise happy? It is possible for
more foods than just dairy and egg to be an issue. As well as IgE mediated
allergies research is also showing that there are other allergies that can
cause delayed reactions, often gastrointestinal. There can be luck
diagnosing these with patch testing but it is fairly new, not widely done
and has varying reports of success.

It is possible for doctors to use the term allergic colitis to cover
eosinophilic colitis. This would show by the number of eosinophils in the
colon on biopsy. If this is the case then the mum would be unlikely to find
a GI who would be willing to support continued breastfeeding.
