Don't bother taking the time to offer your services to the board, ladies.
Unless you are a CPA and an IBCLC, or a PhD researcher in lactation, they
won't even bother looking at you.
Of the 10 positions available, 9 of them are preselected by their
professional associations, e.g. The American Academy of Pediatrics, LLLI, ILCA (you
need to be a board member), Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, WIC, Royal
College of Midwives, the Canadians, Europeans and Asians come up with their own
people, ABA designates their own person. That leaves the public member. The
last one was the editor of Birth magazine. The current one is Jim Akre. Who
is that guy on the Sopranos that says "forgettaboutit"?
