Re: << Anyone from there? I'm having a huge issue with the hospital, Loma
Linda Medical Center, I've never seen such terrible care. The entire
situation is just too overwhelming to list, these poor parents are being
made to feel like they are completely incompetent because they want what
all of us would consider the bare minimum. This is my dear friend's
first grandbaby, and the hospital seems to be jeopardizing not just
breastfeeding but basic bonding. It's so frustrating. What further
complicates things is that the couple is from Big Bear and they have
friends up there, but none down the mountain so they feel pretty much
alone--I've spent two afternoons at the hospital, and while I leave
things better, with baby latching on and parents feeling good, by the
next afternoon they are back to feeling like they are incompetent, and
baby is so stressed that he can't latch on... >>
I don't know if the described BF care is typical or not, but there is no mention of whether an IBCLC has been requested or seen. I have cut and pasted the message in an email to an IBCLC having a LLUMC email address.
Just my opinion, but I might suggest caution before we name a specific organization. In this instance, it appears that not all the info is available yet, and there are ways to find the info without an international lambast.
