Hi all. Two questions. I am looking for an IBCLC in private practice in
Philadelphia. Can someone please email me back if you have that info or if
you are an IBCLC in that area?
Thanks.
Second question... I am working with a mom (permission to post) who is a
very busy physician. She spends some days in the OR, and other days in her
office, working four days a week. Her baby is doing very well with bf, and
is 6 months old. Mother has had continuing bouts of severe blebs/plugged
ducts. One was a bleb that she herself removed with a sterile needle, and
when the milk was hand expressed after this procedure, a plug when flying
into the shower.... It was visible and actually went flying when she hand
expressed....... On the largish side. This happened after the breast had
gotten so engorged, and was pink and huge and she started to feel fluish...
Etc... So she knew that it was heading into mastitis..etc.
She had been taking lecithin, and stopped, and now, she has begun it
again.... She has these plugs twice a week, and has no tight bras, etc. She
pumps and bfs often, and religiously, I'd say. The baby is now beginning
solid foods... And is thriving... The mom is very anxious about supply, but
has plenty, at this point.
Does anyone have any brilliant ideas for someone who is so knowledgeable,
and who is so dilligent about bf and pumping, and on top of things in terms
of supply, but whose breasts do respond somehow to something...with repeated
plugs? Any other ideas?
Thanks. Kathleen
