This is just query to those in the field about combining the IBCLC and also
being a Physician Assistant.

I have the opportunity to go to school and receive my Masters as a Physician
Assistant and am wondering what the work opportunities would be like as both
an IBCLC and a PA. I know there are MD's who are IBCLC's and Nurse
Practitioners who are also IBCLC's.

Any of you out there PA's? or know of anyone who is? I am mulling over my
options and would like as broad a picture as possible of the possibilities
here. The few PA's I have spoken with love the work they do, but know
NOTHING of the IBCLC credential. How do those of you who are MD/PNP combine
your fields of work, where are my best opportunities for combining the
two-clinic, hospital, private practice?

I am a LLL Leader, taking the IBCLE Exam this summer and in my last month of
my Bachelors degree in Maternal Child Health. I would start the MPA program
in Jan 2008 as that is the next class matriculating at Eastern Virginia
Medical School.

Taking this step in my schooling and career would mean a huge sacrifice in
terms of my family and a big financial hit...so I'd like to be sure that it
will be worthwhile in terms of job satisfaction and the ability to combine
it with the IBCLC.

Any thoughts are appreciated, to me personally or to the list.
