ILCA is the professional association for lactation consultants (and other
promoters of BF).
IBLCE is the separate and distinct organization that runs the exam we all
take in order to call ourselves "I-B-C-L-C." IBCLE has announced publicly
its plan to investigate creation of a "second level credential."
The ILCA Board of Directors opposes the creation of such a second credential
by IBLCE, and stated as much in motion passed at the March 2006 Board
meeting. A forum to discuss this issue was held at the ILCA conference this
month. Those who did not attend the conference may still offer their
thoughts, via the ILCA Discussion Board thread about the second credential,
on the members' only side of www.ilca.org.
