After 3 days on the Alimentum the stools are testing neg for occult blood,
which is an improvement, though it is hard to say why there was an
improvement. The hospitalization followed the second episode of grossly
bloody stools, so there appears to be an episodic nature to this. It is
just still interesting to me that this all occured simultaneously with the
mother's complaint of ductal pain, and I'm still wondering if there is a
connection.Could the baby be having an allergic reaction to yeast, for
instance? Could a bacterial infection be involved - the mother has been
asking the MD's involved to culture her milk, but no one is interested in
doing that.
Or as someone suggested offlist could the blood be the mother's d/t ductal
irritation?
The mother has removed cow's milk from her diet at MD's suggestion and
celiac producing grains following her own inclinations and has resumed
nursing. We are all holding our breath....
Thanks to all who answered
