Breastfeeding alone will do the job for at least a year in a healthy mom-baby couple. Mom needs to observe (have the baby observed) for signes of anemia (and there are other means to do so besides bloodwork, baby showing healthy, alert and with nice coloured skin and mucous being some. If she does want to add some iron in baby's food, dark green, red, and orange vegetables are perhaps a better choice than chicken and cheese.
