I am in Israel visiting my family. The day we got here, we were sitting down
for the Sabbath dinner when all of a sudden the sirens were heard. I ran
upstairs to get my 2.5 year old son, who was already asleep for the night.
Needless to say he was upset. He was confused, jet lagged, and didn't
understand why we were all hiding under the dinner table (long story).
Everyone was edgy, nervous, and talking fast and loud. There was only one
thing I could to to calm him down. I started nursing him. And guess who were
the two most relaxed people in the room?... I suddenly knew everything was
going to be o.k., and so did he. And I had a though: What if all the world
leaders were lactating women? Can you imagine? With all this oxytocin
flowing around, hurting another human being would be incomprehensible...
Here's to mother's milk, and world peace!
