Andrea asked what handouts or posters to have at a baby fair. I did one a
few months ago and brought "What About Dad" by Diane Weissinger (I had already
paid for her handouts, however) and did that on blue paper with a standup
acrylic stand holding a 8x10 " poster I made on dads; some LLL handouts on
Establishing Supply, Working and storage of milk; my brochures for private practice
and the one fun thing that did attract people of all ages that I learned about
on Lactnet, a clear jar of gold wrapped chocolate with "The Gold Standard"
written on it and a sign in front that said if one answered a breastfeeding
question correctly, they could have a piece of chocolate. I made up questions and
put them on small slips of paper and put these in a basket for individuals to
choose. I got several 9-10 yr old boys who were determined to get the candy
and one answered 3 questions before he did! I also had a poster I used from
teaching with pictures of moms breastfeeding and facts about breastfeeding. I
also brought the LLL Answer Book and Hale's in case I got a question I couldn't
answer off the top of my head. An interesting and mostly non-busy experience,
good luck, Andrea.
