ugh - I was interviewed for this article, and I am quoted (a little out of
context, I believe) near the bottom of the article; it is so frustrating
how much power a journalist has to mask their own belief and make it look
like truth. Take the headline - there is no proof of this! there is a
certain segment of the population that is uncomfortable with it, sure - but
to say that the US is increasingly uncomfortable is plain wrong, biased
reporting. The tone of the article spells out the "journalist's" beliefs
pretty clearly. I tried to make the point when she was interviewing me that
the cover on the magazine is not what breastfeeding in public looks like -
she seemed to get that, and yet wrote the whole article as if that is indeed
what one does when you nurse a baby in public - basically, you get naked.
give me a break
