Dear Friends:
A local birth center has an open house at lunchtime on Thursdays, called
the "Lunch Bunch". Any mom can come with her new baby and hang out; I am
hired to answer questions. Babies can be weighed and breastfeeding problems can
be addressed.
I am amazed at how many mothers are dealing with oversupply at 8-12
weeks. I also see mothers nursing a 2nd or 3rd baby having troubles because they
are lax about positioning. One mother that had a lovely pain-free latch on a
troublesome side last week had forgotten everything by this week's visit and
had to be reminded..........again. Again she achieved a pain-free left side
latch by pulling the baby's butt closer and lifting the breast underneath.
We'll see if she can remember for good now.
The babies are all thriving and gorgeous, smiling and chubby.
    warmly,
