Everyone is entitled to their opinion. The author seems to have a good
grasp of the situation, and she has identified this "irrational" decision
as a personal one. She seems to be aware and understand the benefits of
breastfeeding, and she recognizes that she is rationalizing her decision
making process.
I am a supporter of breastfeeding, but I will always feel a sense of
admiration for someone who speaks their mind, even if it goes against
mainstream. The author put herself "out-there", opening herself up for
the criticism and judgments that may result from this article. I bet
there are women out there who will applaud her. Applaud her for the
strength she displayed by making a decision that goes against "evidenced-
based practice". Although this was not a decision I would have made, I do
feel she has the right to make the decision that is best for her, and she
has a right to talk about it-even if writing the article was only another
attempt to rationalize and defend her decision.
