Dr Jen
You would definitely want to talk about meds (I assume you will do as you
mention Hale's book). Since they are mostly internists they will be the ones
advising weaning when not really necessary due to some meds. Of course you
must mention mastitis. I would have a handout with 'take home messages'
like MASTITIS - CONTINUE BF AND/OR REGULAR EMPTYING OF THE BREAST.
"MEDICATIONS - CONSULT A WELL REFERENCED BF/MED GUIDE SUCH AS HALE AND AAP
POLICY ON MEDS."
I think the main message for that group is the resources, noting that bf
moms should be treated in collaboration with a bf-expert just as a pregnant
mom would be treated in collaboration w/ an OB.
