My exposure to the worst hyperemesis I had ever seen was in my husband's
sister. Hyperemesis with #1 which eventually led to a preemie - still mom
had full milk production. For #2 hyperemesis was so bad she was
hospitalized for weeks and finally went home on TPN (Total perenteral
nutrition) that her husband gave her (an engineer, niether of them are
medical people) every night after he got home as they wanted him home if any
problem arose during the treatment...it took 12 hours/day.

Again she delivered a preemie, the day he was discharged from the NICU, she
was hospitalized with gall bladder attack and she had a laparoscopic
surgery2 days later, removing it - and went home the next day. Despite all
this, her baby was exclusively breastfed.
