Kangaroo care, responding to cues, and breastfeeding during the night do not
guarantee LAM, as my daughter can attest. Here is the study I have posted
before that hormone ratios at 38 weeks gestation is the determining factor.
I really do not like saddling moms with guilt when they do all the right
things and their period starts at 4-6 weeks postpartum anyway.
Dear Friends:
There are women whose period starts well before the 6 month mark, even
when they are exclusively breastfeeding. Such women can not use LAM, a
condition of which is that menses have not resumed.
