I hope this is enough "on topic" to not offend anyone, I am not sure who to
ask...

I have been asked about the daily use of Xylitol gum in a breastfeeding
mother who is also trying to conceive.  Her mother's new husband is a
dentist and is encouraging the whole family, including the two year old
nursling, to use Xylitol gum every day after every meal, snack, and
nursing?!?  (Do we give two year olds gum??)

I have never heard of this product until today, but a Google search for
"Xylitol gum" brought up 231,000 hits.  Xylitol is not listed in Hale's.

Are there any concerns with breastfeeding?
(Pregnancy?  Pediatric use?)
