I went to the website and looked at this thing. On page two it shows a
young infant (guessing 1month old at most) on his back with this binkie holder
over its face. To me, it would appear that this pacifier holder completely
covers this baby's nose and mouth, in effect doing basically what would be
happening if this baby was laying on his tummy. It appears that carbon dioxide
containing air would be more likely to be trapped with this "binkie holder" as
would the babe be laying on his poor belly, making the SIDS risk, though
small, the same. Did anyone else notice this?
I feel so badly for these new moms who are so confused by all of this new
information. At our LLL meeting on Tuesday, the issue came up and without
putting down the AAP we group moms who had older children, encouraged the moms
with new babies to use the breast as their pacifier. I hope the information
sinks in and they hear us.
