Dear Members,
A friend of mine in Massachusetts alerted me to this posting. I wanted to
respond to the last line of the posting that called our survey
unscientific. This survey was conducted jointly by myself, Anna Greenberg,
VP of Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research (www.greenbergresearch.com) and
Bill McInturff, Partner at Public Opinion Strategies (www.pos.org). Both
of our firms are prominent and well respected nationally. We do not
conduct unscientific surveys. This phone survey was conducted among 400
mothers of children 0-5 living in their households. Respondents were
chosen randomly from a listed sample, and careful quotas were set to
reflect Census bureau statistics of women age 18-45 in the state. This
means that we were careful to represent women on WIC and lower income
mothers, who traditionally are difficult to reach by phone. This listed
sample was purchased from a sample vendor and was not supplied by formula
companies. The survey has a margin of error of +/- 4.9%. You should also
note that only 31 percent of the sample were formula-only mothers – 37
percent were breast feed only mothers and 32 percent were mothers who used
a combination of the two. Please do not hesitate to be in touch if you
have further questions about the methodology behind the survey.
Anna Greenberg
