Good morning all,

I'm way behind in reading Lactnet, so perhaps what I have to add has been said. If so, consider this as not send.
I think this dyad may well have a oversupply issue. The pattern of starting off with enthousiasm, gulping in milk and than staritn to fuss is what I often see when mom has more to offer than baby can work with at a time. Mom's ''leaking all over the place'' and seems to have more than adequate starage capacity. I'd try to see what baby does when he's offered a relative empty breast that will not spray mik into his mouth/throat too fast/hard. Drinkining this hindmilk will probably improve his weight as well. It seems that all he is transferring now is lactose-rich milk and never comes close to the fattier part.
If overenthousiastic milksupply is not the issue, would it be an idea to stop the nursing session whenever baby starts fussing? And so turn to more frequent shorter feeds?

  Warmly greeting
  Gonneke,
IBCLC, LLLL, MOM in the early hours in southern Netherlands
