Dear Lisa, I would like to see a bit higher weight gain, more like the 6 
ounces a week and back to birth weight by day 10-14, as stated in THE 
BREASTFEEDING ANSWER BOOK. Although this baby is just a bit lower, I think 
the whole picture as you painted it is a cause for concern. Perhaps low milk 
supply or the baby has an oral motor problem causing her to have problems 
removing milk, which has driven down mom's supply.

What would give you the answer to this puzzle is several test weights on a 
good scale like the Tanita BLB12 or the Baby Weigh Scale. I don't think 
anyone will actually know unless these are done.

A seven week old baby should be satisfied at the breast and have periods of 
calm alertness, not constant crying. Sometimes the issue is an overabundant 
milk supply that causes such fussiness.

Does this baby frown, with wrinkles on the forehead between the eyebrows 
while nursing? (a sign that milk transfer is inadequate) Is the baby long 
and lean with baggy skin, or is it "roundish" with fat thighs, arms, and 
face?
