After searching the archives with no luck, I got permission from the mom
to post this:
Mom called me today complaining of a "piercing" pain in her right breast
only in the mornings. She has had plugged ducts before and does not think
this is that. She said by 11:00am, the pain has gone away (after a couple
of nursing sessions with her son), but this is happening every morning.
She was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago with a milk pearl on right nipple
(by someone else), but that is better now (she was told to pierce it with
a sterilized needle...ouch!) Mom has MVP and describes the pain in her
right breast as similar to palpitations, but is concerned as this is
happening every morning and then going away. She has been exclusively
nursing her son for 9 months, but is getting weary of the pain and doesn't
know what to do. I referred her to her cardiologist just in case and also
to an IBCLC in the area as I am only a peer counselor (and am still
learning lots!) Has anyone had clients with similar experiences or can
anyone give any insight as to what might be happening? This mom is a
friend of mine, not a client, so I'm just trying to give her some possible
answers before she can get in to see someone.
Thanks in advance.
